Let me start by saying I am not the easiest person to work with. I am very meticulous and obsessed with details (big and small).  For 4 months (leading up to the job and during the job) Gabriel and his team dealt with my persistent questions, requests and changes... many of which included late night text exchanges. Never once did Gabriel or Orlando complain or fight me on my changes or show annoyance with my petty questions. They definitely live by the motto that the customer is always right and they aim to please. And for those reasons alone (nevermind that I LOVE our backyard and the quality of their work), I give them 5 stars. They worked hard and ultimately, the yard is exactly what I had hoped it to be.  

That said, I was highly involved with every little detail...as I stated, I'm very particular. The little details aren't necessarily their 'forte', and yet to me, the little details can often make the project. Fortunately, I was able to work from home during this time and was able to ensure everything (BBQ placement/shape, concrete shape, height/width of patio covers, fence work, color selections, etc) were exactly as I wanted it before they got too far in the process.   

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rivers. Their pricing is fair and the customer service is remarkable.  Our backyard is everything we had hoped it to be!!!

We had a wonderful experience with Rivers Landscaping!  We live in a new community in Black Mountain Ranch in San Diego and I already had a pretty clear idea about what I wanted to do for our landscaping.   Gabriel Rios provided us with a great 3D design, which corresponded exactly to what we wanted. A very modern, clean lines design with concrete, rocks and turf. His estimate was much lower than the other companies (4 companies total) and the quality of the job was great.

Gus was our foreman and addressed thoroughly all of our questions, and small issues that arose. Despite few updates in the design throughout the process, the contract price remained the same as quoted. The job did take a month longer than originally anticipated (but pretty much it seems like it is the norm in this industry, and we honestly expected it).

We absolutely love the results of our backyard and would definitely hire them again!

We hired Rivers landscaping to design and build our backyard. We had let it go when the water was restricted and had dead grass and unsightly overgrown bushes . We had a very specific time frame as we were having company and a large party.  Gabriel listened to what we wanted and gave us 3D pictures of what he designed. I was very impressed and loved the way he worked with us to get the design exactly how I wanted it to look.

He quoted a price and we agreed on it. We are very happy with the way it turned out. It was exactly on budget and in the exact time framed he promised. The men who worked on the yard for the month were so nice and kept everything clean. They even swept my pool before they left every day.  They also painted a wall and bbq stand. They powerwashed and polished the concrete so when they were finished it looked like a magazine photo.

Thank you Gabriel ... we will be in touch again to do the front yard in the spring. I highly recommend Rivers Landscaping!

I do not often give out 5 stars, but Rivers earned.  They did a complete re-model of our back yard including a large cabana.  Orlando, the foreman assigned to our job was the best contractor I have ever worked with.  I have worked with a lot of contractors and Orlando is hands down the best and easiest to work with.

There were a few hiccups along the way, but that is expected on a construction job of this scope.  Ultimately, I was happy with the way they handled the unexpected hiccups.

In the end, the project turned out great - we are very happy and would recommend Rivers to anyone.

• Rivers is everything a family business should be - great to work with, responsive, always striving to make their clients happy and willing to do whatever it takes to get a project done right.

• We hired Rivers to do landscaping and hardscaping on a newly built home, concurrent with the construction of a swimming pool. My wife was the project designer and kept a close eye on quality control throughout the project. Even when construction do-overs were necessary, things never became adversarial. Our requests were always treated with respect and a spirit of cooperation.

Not only were Gabriel and the crew willing to tackle out-of-the-ordinary design requests, they also made our lives much easier by solving some of the issues we had with the pool contractor. For example, whenever the pool contractor argued with us regarding whether a portion of the project was his or Rivers' responsibility, Gabriel would quickly settle the issue by simply getting the work done.
